Steel Reel The Steelheads welcome the Alaska Aces to Boise for a three-game series this week, with Wednesday the first of 12 meetings between the teams this season. The Steelheads and Aces begin the series separated by just one point in the standings, with Idaho also tied in points with Colorado for the division lead.

The Steelheads are coming off a two-game sweep of the Americans this past weekend, capped by a 5-2 win at CenturyLink Arena on Saturday night. After a quiet night in the series opener, the Idaho power play came to life with two goals on Saturday with a point blast from Brandon Anselmini and a rebound goal for Travis Ewanyk. The Steelheads also benefited from numerous odd-man rushes, with Anthony Luciani netting a breakaway goal and Joe Basaraba scoring on a 3-on-1 in the third period. Landon Bow earned the win with a 30-save effort.

Clashing Streaks... The Steelheads are riding a three-game winning streak heading into Wednesday night's matchup, as well as a seven-game points streak (6-0-1) and a four-game winning streak on home ice. In their last 13 games, the Steelheads are 10-2-1, and they look to close out a strong November in which they are 8-2-1. The Aces enter on a five-game winning streak, including a three-game sweep over the Utah Grizzlies. The Aces are averaging 3.6 goals-per-game in November have scored four goals or more in seven of 11 games this month.

New Faces... With Brandon Anselmini and Landon Bow recalled to AHL Texas, two former Steelheads make their return to Idaho. Philippe Desrosiers won 15 games for the Steelheads last season and was 2-2-0 this year in Texas with a 3.25 goals-against average. Branden Troock collected two goals and five points in eight games last year with Idaho and had three assists this season with the AHL Stars.

Ewanyk On It... Travis Ewanyk's power play goal on Saturday night moved him into a tie for the team lead with seven goals on the season, tying his single-season high for his professional career. His 13 points this season are already a career-best. Ewanyk has three goals and five points during his current three-game points streak, and five goals and eight points over his last eight contests.

About the Aces... Peter Sivak ranks third in the ECHL in scoring with 25 points in just 16 games, as well as a league-leading 5 game-winning goals and six goals and five assists during a current five-game points streak. Tim Coffman and Tim Wallace are also scoring at better than a point-per-game pace, with Coffman racking up 18 points in 16 games and also in the midst of a five-game streak while Wallace has grabbed 17 points this season. Between the pipes, an area of great improvement for Alaska, Kevin Carr is the reigning ECHL Goaltender of the Week with a 3-0-0 record, a shutout, and a .963 save percentage. The Aces have the league's third best penalty-kill and lead the league in average goals-against per game.
