Racing Louisville FC News Release
Racing Louisville FC opens its 2023 NWSL regular-season campaign on the road tonight, with a 7 p.m. ET kickoff against the Houston Dash at Shell Energy Stadium. The match will be streamed live on Paramount+.
Racing enters the new season with a fresh sense of optimism, hoping to turn big offseason roster additions and a promising preseason into a playoff push. The Louisvillians have finished ninth in their first two seasons in the NWSL, though they improved their points-per-game average in 2022. Coach Kim Björkegren's squad went 3-1-2 in the preseason, including a 2-1-1 mark against NWSL competition.
First-timers in the NWSL playoffs last year, Houston is looking for a repeat performance in 2023. The Dash added one of the league's top goal scorers from last year, Diana Ordoñez, and hired long-time OL Reign assistant Sam Laity as its new head coach.
This will be the first of four meetings between the teams this year. Racing will host Houston at Lynn Family Stadium for a regular-season match on Sept. 15. Louisville and Houston also share a four-team group in the NWSL UKG Challenge Cup, a league-wide tournament that will coincide with the season, and will play each other in a home-and-home series as part of that competition.
