Highway Tune

After knocking out a two-week trip to start 2023, the Hawks are embarking on another long road stretch with seven consecutive away games on the docket, starting tonight in Spokane. Portland is 13-9-1-0 on the road this season, the fourth-best mark in the Western Conference. They'll look to improve that record against a variety of competition in Spokane, Seattle, Kelowna, Prince George and Everett between now and March 3.

Rollin' Against Spokane

It's been all Portland in the season series as the Hawks have won all four meetings with the Chiefs, outscoring them 23-13 in that span. James Stefan has starred for the Hawks with 10 points (1G, 9A), followed by Jack O'Brien (4G, 5A) and Robbie Fromm-Delorme (4G, 3A). The last meeting between the clubs was an absolute barnburner, a 4-3 Portland overtime win that saw the Hawks score twice in the final five minutes to force overtime, where Marek Alscher lit the lamp for the game-winner.

Keeping Focus

With a playoff spot already locked down and the U.S. Division race beginning to narrow, the Hawks are hitting the business end of the campaign in the final 17 games of the regular season. Each game is an opportunity to build positive habits for the playoffs, and Portland's players know there are no nights off. After a tough loss to a high-flying Seattle club on Saturday, Jack O'Brien spoke to the importance of the team honing its game as the postseason nears.

"Bounces kind of went their way (tonight) but we're right there with (Seattle)...That was one of the best games we've played as a team this season. It's going to come down to sharpening the little things so we can be the best we can be in the playoffs," he said.

Look for a focused, detail-oriented approach as the Hawks try to take care of business in Spokane.
