Game Day COVID-19 Protocol Update

May 25, 2021 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Oakland Roots News Release

Oakland Roots supports the CDC, State of California & Alameda County Department of Health (ACDH) by educating and encouraging our community to safely, effectively access free vaccines and where necessary, COVID-19 tests to end the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vaccinations are the most important tool to end the COVID-19 pandemic, and every Californian 12 years and up is now eligible for vaccination. These vaccines help protect people from getting sick or severely ill with COVID-19, and can also help protect people around them. To receive optimal protection, people should receive all recommended doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

We have entered into a very hopeful phase of the pandemic, and Oakland Roots will continue to take responsibility in maintaining a community first approach. Our partners CityHealth and NativeHealth do not require proof of insurance, ID or immigration status. However, advanced registration is required to ensure these resources are available to you. Please click or call our Health Partners' registration links below to plan for your Vaccination e.g. If you register for your single dose Janssen or your 2nd dose Modern or Pfizer by 4 June, you can be fully protected by our Juneteenth home opener.

While Alameda County Department of Health will be lifting mask mandates for the vaccinated on June 15, 2021, Oakland Roots will maintain caution for those who have not yet benefited from the vaccine. This includes children younger than 12 years and those with weakened immune systems. There will also be a mask mandate for our home games at Laney Football Stadium. Ticket holders two (2+) years and older will be required to wear a face covering that covers their nose and mouth at all times, except when actively eating or drinking. Roots medical masks will also be available to our guests to ensure optimal safety, and hand sanitizing stations can be found around the entire stadium.

We will also be asking fans to complete a self-symptom check for certification through the Roots Mobile App prior to game day.
