Republic FC Salutes Supporters with New Third Kit, Inspired by Fan-Driven Quail Moniker

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento Republic FC unveiled the club's third jersey - the Quail Kit - for the 2021 USL Championship season. The new kit is an homage to the fan-driven Quail moniker.

In 2016, as part of an April Fools' Joke gone right, Republic FC revealed that two quails would become the club's new mascots. The California Quail - the state bird - is known for its hardiness and adaptability and it is a natural fit for the Indomitable Spirit of Republic FC and its fans. The Quails had already captured the hearts and minds of the club's loyal supporters before the truth was revealed. Those in the know continue to refer to the Indomitable Club as "The Quails" and it has become the club's unofficial, yet seamless, moniker.

"The quails have been a fun, fan-driven tradition and after a difficult year apart from our supporters, the Quail Kit salutes their deep love for the Indomitable Club," said Vice President of Marketing Allison Yee-Garcia. "On the field or off, we hope that fans will wear this jersey with pride, knowing that they continue to have a strong role in the story of Republic FC."

Republic FC's creative staff developed and designed the kit in-house, as part of the commitment to salute fans and contribute to soccer's fashion culture. The Nike Vaporknit jersey features a modern interpretation of gold and silver swoops across the front that mimic the feather pattern on a quail's chest. A subtle silhouette of the California Quail adorns the back neck of the jersey. UC Davis Health, the club's partner since its inception, is prominently displayed across the chest. Printed along the inner base of the jersey is Urbs Indomita - "Indomitable City"-a reminder to those wearing the kit on and off the pitch of the city's unyielding spirit.

The Quail Kit is now available and can be purchased at Republic FC's team store in Midtown and online via the club's website. The kit sold in-store and online is the same worn by the club's players on the pitch. A merchandise collection embracing the quail theme is also available, with designs for men, women and youth. Local artist Kris Rosa - and Republic FC Artist Spotlight contributor, has created an exclusive Quail Kit poster, custom quail boots, and will have his artwork on display at the club's team store. All fans who attend Saturday's match, or order Quail Kit and merchandise will receive a copy of the limited-edition poster.

This Saturday when Republic FC hosts Phoenix Rising FC at Heart Health Park, The Quails will take to the pitch and wear the kit for the first time. The match will be broadcast locally on KQCA My58 and Estrella TV Sacramento, as well as streaming on ESPN+. The match is sold-out, but in a partnership with the Sacramento County Public Health office, limited seats have been made available for guests that will support community health and receive the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
