The set-up

The Belleville Senators conclude a four-game road trip with a visit to their Canadian rivals Laval.

Belleville (9-10-1-0) dropped to fifth in the North Division after defeat in Utica Saturday but five points separates second place Syracuse to seventh place Toronto. The Senators are 3-5-1-0 on the road this season and it could be related to their 14.6% power play on the road which is the third worst in the East.

Laval (7-12-1-1) continues to struggle in their sophomore season as they sit bottom in the East and hold the second worse record in the AHL. Their 54 goals scored also rank in the bottom five in the league.

Roster notes

No changes, at least visually, for the Sens from Saturday's game. The team did send Boston Leier to Brampton for a game on Sunday but recalled him the next day. Goaltender Marcus Hogberg, who has been out all season with injury, was sent to the Beast Tuesday to play in their game that afternoon.

Expect Filip Gustavsson to get the nod in goal tonight for the Sens as head coach Troy Mann continues to ride his young Swede.

Goaltenders Mike Condon and forward Andrew Sturtz didn't travel while Jim O'Brien remains out injured.

Previous history

The Sens won the only match-up of the season so far 2-1 on Oct. 31 when Gustavsson made 18 third period saves to clinch victory. The teams will do battle a total of 12 times this season with Laval's first trip to Belleville coming Dec. 7.

Who to watch

Sens forward Filip Chlapik is currently riding a three-game point streak that includes goals in his last two games. The Czech native has 12 points (five goals) in 15 games this season.

In his first year with Laval, Quebec native Alex Belzile leads the team in scoring with 15 points as he has a pair of goals and 13 assists.

Where to watch

Wednesday's game starts at 7:30pm and can be seen on AHLTV. Fans can also watch tonight's contest at Shoeless Joe's in Belleville.

The radio broadcast on CJBQ 800 begins at 7:20pm with Jack Miller on the call.
