RUSSIAN FIRST: Many firsts this early in the season are usually first WHL goal, first WHL point or even first WHL game for the rookies dressing in the lineup. For one Tiger it marked a first in 8 years that a Russian born player suited up for the orange and black in a regular season game. Rookie Alexey Platonov made his WHL debut Saturday in Prince Albert and became the first Russian born player since Alexander Provkin in 2006-2007 to dress in a regular season game. The 6'5 defenseman from Mytischi, Russia posted 2 penalty minutes and an even rating on the night, as the 18 year old Platonov saw his first game action this season. When asked about his first game experience Platonov responded in broken English, "It was very good, fun." We hope the big Russian can keep his season going tonight against one of the best teams in the league.
