Wichita Thunder News Release

Prescott Valley, AZ (April 2nd) - Wichita heads out to the desert to take on the Arizona Sundogs tonight at 8:05 p.m. CST. The Thunder took a 2-0 lead in the series on Saturday, winning 3-0 with all the scoring taking place in the third period.

What to watch for:

Wichita earned its first win in regulation against the Sundogs this season on Saturday. The Thunder traveled out to Prescott Valley, AZ a few weeks ago and split with the 'Dogs on March 15th and 16th. The Thunder led in both games by a two-goal margin only to see Arizona come back and make it a tight game. Saturday's contest was the first game between the two that wasn't a one-goal affair. Wichita held the Sundogs to a post-season franchise-low 11 shots on net and just two in the third period. The previous low was 12 against Fort Worth during last year's playoff run.

Players to watch:

Les Reaney and Matt Summers each have two goals in the series for the Thunder. Torrie Jung has made both starts in the series for Wichita, going 2-0 and earning his first post-season shutout of his career. Chad Nehring, who led the Sundogs in scoring during the regular season, has one goal so far through two games. He had four goals in three-straight meetings against Wichita before being held off the scoresheet on Saturday. Former Thunder netminder Adam Russo made the start in Game 1, but didn't get the call in Game 2.

Home/Road:

Wichita improved to 35-19 all-time at home during the post-season. On the road, Wichita is 21-36. In Game 3's, Wichita is 11-10 all-time. The Thunder's playoff record is 56-55 in 111 post-season games. Arizona went 4-0-1 in their final five home games of the season and now hosts Game's 3 and 4 in the series.
