Cutthroats on the Brink After 4-0 Loss in Game Four

DENVER - Aaron Dell turned aside 22 saves on Monday night as the Denver Cutthroats fell to the Allen Americans by a 4-0 final in game four to push their season to the edge as they now trail in the best-of-seven series, 3-1.

Kent Patterson suffered the loss for Denver in his first career playoff game stopping 18-of-21 shots for the Cutthroats.

The Americans jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first as Jarret Lukin tallied a power play goal at 10:06 and Bryce Aneloski rang a backhand shot off the right post with 4:24 left in the frame.

After a scoreless second, Darryl Bootland pushed the Allen lead to 3-0 when a bouncing puck in front of the net hit Denver's Jamie MacQueen and slipped in at 10:27. Jim McKenzie added an empty-net goal for the Americans with just over a minute to play in regulation.

With Lukin's first period tally, the Americans have scored first in all four games of the series so far.

The Cutthroats finished 0-for-3 on the power play while Allen went 1-for-3.

Game five between the Cutthroats and Americans is set for Saturday at the Allen Event Center in Allen, Tex. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:05 PM MST.
