Montgomery Biscuits News Release

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Biscuits (40-38/5-3) were shut down by Drew Gagnon (5-2) as the Huntsville Stars (47-26/4-4) snapped the Biscuits' 3-game win streak with a 4-1 win Thursday night at Joe Davis Stadium.

Gagnon - who had never pitched more than four innings in his first two starts against the Biscuits - went seven innings, only allowed one run on four hits for the win. His first inning did not indicate a strong start. The right-hander hit Ryan Brett to start the game then walked Luke Maile with one out. A double-play ended the frame and led to a stretch of seven-straight retired.

Biscuits only offense came in the fourth inning. Jake Hager led off with a triple to right field. Taylor Motter then singled to bring home Hager.

After Victor Mateo (8-5) retired the first two batters with three pitches in the second inning, Lucas May hit a solo home run to left to put the Stars on the board. Huntsville added two unearned runs off of Mateo in the fourth inning. A two out error put runners on the corners. A throwing error led to the first run then an RBI-single from May made it 3-1 Stars.

Huntsville added an insurance run in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly from Kentrail Davis.

Motter was the only player for the Biscuits to finish with multiple hits. Thursday was his twenty-third multi-hit game of the season.

Biscuits will go for a series win in game four of the series, Friday night at 6:30. RH Angel Sanchez will make his second start in the Rays' system while mid-season All-Star LH Brent Suter will throw for the Stars.
