
G-Braves Defeat Knights 4-3, Win 7th in a Row

The Lead: The Gwinnett Braves defeated the Charlotte Knights 4-3, on Monday night to complete the three game sweep at Knights' Castle in Fort Mill, SC. RHP Julio Teheran earned his second Triple-A victory as he helped the Braves win their seventh game in a row. With the G-Braves (13-5) win, and the loss by Durham (11-8), the G-Braves now have a 2.5 game lead in the International League South division.
It Was Over When: In the top of the third inning, 1B Mauro Gomez hit a three run home run to left field, scoring LF Matt Young and CF Jordan Schafer.
Braves Beat: On the Mound: Teheran was brilliant tonight. He nearly went the distance, pitching 8.0 IP, allowing 6 H, 3 R/ER, BB and 7 K's. He earned his second win of the season, throwing 89 pitches, 69 for strikes. RHP Scott Proctor earned his first save of the year, pitching a perfect ninth and striking out one. At the plate: OF Wilkin Ramirez along with Gomez led the offense for the G-Braves. Ramirez was the only Brave to have a multi-hit game, finishing 2-for-4 with a R, RBI, and HR. Gomez finished the day going 1-for-4 with the three run home run and three RBI.
The Opposition: On the Mound: RHP Lucas Harrell had a decent performance, but ultimately earned his second loss of the season. His line: 6.0, 6 H, 4 R/ER, 1 BB, and 7 K's. RHP Josh Kinney relieved him and pitched 2.0 innings, allowing a hit and struck out three. RHP Jhonny Nunez was the last pitcher for the Knights on the night, throwing 1.0 IP with a K. At the plate: OF Alejandro De Aza was the only Knight to have a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a run and a double. He was also picked off at first base by Teheran in the bottom of the 8th inning.
On Deck: The Gwinnett Braves return home to take on the Columbus Clippers in a four game series starting on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. RHP Todd Redmond (0-2, 1.93 ERA) is set to take the mound for the Braves, vs. LHP David Huff (1-0, 2.12 ERA) for the Clippers. The game can be heard on the home of the G-Braves, WDUN 550 AM/102.9 FM.
