Charlotte Knights News Release

FORT MILL, S.C. - The Charlotte Knights comeback effort came up just short as the Knights were defeated 4-3 by the Gwinnett Braves at Knights Stadium. The loss was the Knights 10th in their last 12 games.

For the second straight game the Knights ran into excellent starting pitching. Braves starter Julio Teheran was excellent through 8.0 innings as he struck out seven Knights hitters. Charlotte starter Lucas Harrell also struck out seven as he was given the loss after allowing all four Braves runs through 6.0 innings.

Knights outfielder Alejandro De Aza was the only Knights player with a multi-hit game. De Aza led off the 1st inning with a double and later scored on an RBI sacrifice fly from Dayan Viciedo. Sacrifice flys were the way to score for the Knights as Dallas McPherson and Lastings Milledge each had sac flys in the 7th inning to pull the Knights to within one run.

Gwinnett scored all of their runs via the long ball as Mauro Gomez and Wilkin Ramirez each homered for the Braves. Scott Proctor pitched a scoreless 9th inning to earn his first save of the season.

The Knights begin a four game series tomorrow against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees at 7:15 PM. RHP Jeff Marquez will pitch for Charlotte with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre starting RHP Adam Warren.

The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at for more information.
