Mississippi Braves News Release
GREENVILLE, SC - Adam LaRoche had three hits, including a homerun, drove in two, and scored twice as the Greenville Braves beat the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx 7-2 at Greenville Municipal Stadium last night. LaRoche's team-leading eleventh homerun of the season capped off a three-run seventh inning that provided more than G-Braves bullpen would need to close the door on the Jaxx.
Adam Wainwright picked up the win, improving his record to 3-2. The right-hander threw six strong innings, scattering four hits and striking out five. The former first rounder also drove in a run in the third, bouncing a ground ball single over Jaxx third baseman Brendan Harris.
Sergio Mitre picked up the loss, allowing four runs over six innings, all of them earned. Mitre received his only run support off of the bat of left fielder Jackson Melian. Melian drove in both runs for the Jaxx, including his second homerun of the year, a solo shot in the fifth.
Ray Aguilar, Sam McConnell, and Billy Sylvester each pitched a scoreless inning out of the pen for the G-Braves, and Bill McCarthy went 2-4 with a triple and an RBI. The G-Braves improved their record to 24-25 with the win.
Game Notes
Adam LaRoache now has 11 homeruns and 28 RBI's on the season. He leads the team in both categories. The G-Braves host the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx again tomorrow night, May 28, at 7:15 pm, in the second game of their four game series. Probable starters are West Tenn right hander Mike Nannini (4-2) and Greenville right hander Bubba Nelson (4-3).
