O-Rays Extend Streak to Three

ORLANDO - The Orlando Rays downed the visiting Jacksonville Suns in a 15-5 win to extend their winning streak to three games at Cracker Jack Stadium on Tuesday.
Juan Salas, Dan DeMent, and Matt Diaz all posted three hit nights to lead the Rays 17-hit offense. Jorge Cantu and Salas homered and recorded two singles while DeMent had three singles in the Rays third win in as many nights.
During the sixth inning, the Rays tagged Greg Bauer for four runs with two outs remaining in the seventh inning. Orlando scored on six consecutive hits to put them on top 7-5. Dan Grummitt added a no out two run homer during the seventh inning to put Orlando ahead for good, 10-5. The Rays closed out the evening scoring six times in the bottom of the eighth inning, highlighted by Salas' three run shot over the left field wall.
John Benedetti (3-2) pitched two innings for the Rays, allowing one run on two hits. Bauer (2-2) took the loss for the Suns allowing six runs on seven hits in two innings.
Next up for the O-Rays is the second game of a four-game set with the Jacksonville Suns at Cracker Jack Stadium at Disney's Wide World of Sports ® complex. The Rays will send RHP Jose Veras (0-5) to the mound while the Suns will counter with RHP Joel Hanrahan (5-1).
