Mississippi Braves News Release

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The G-Braves' bats came alive as they scored a season high 15 runs in a 15-4 rout of the Orlando Rays in front of 3,864 fans at Greenville Municipal Stadium. Braves starter Matt Belisle (3-6) scattered four hits over six innings to pick up the win.

The Rays took the early lead on a Matt Diaz two run homer in the top of the first inning, but it was all G-Braves after that. The home team plated three in the first and five in both the third and fourth innings.

DH James Jurries was selected player of the game after going 4-6 with an RBI and three runs scored, but there were plenty of other outstanding efforts. Left fielder Jason Fitzgerald also went 4-6 in his return to the Greenville lineup following a stint in Richmond, and second baseman Richard Lewis had three hits.

Orlando starter Jim Magrane (5-3) allowed eight runs, six earned over three innings in taking the loss.

The G-Braves have now won two straight games and four of their last five in raising their record to 28-29.
