Portland Sea Dogs News Release

The Boston Red Sox have announced details for the second annual "Futures at Fenway" minor league doubleheader that is scheduled for Saturday, August 11 at Fenway Park.

As was the case in 2006, family-friendly ticket prices and kid-friendly activities will highlight this day of minor league fun at America's "Most Beloved Ballpark". The inaugural "Futures at Fenway" on August 26, 2006 attracted a capacity crowd of 33,394 for a twinbill between Lowell and Oneonta and Pawtucket and Rochester.

The 2007 "Futures at Fenway" doubleheader will feature a return by the Lowell Spinners, the Red Sox' short-season Single-A affiliate, and the first appearance by the Portland Sea Dogs, Boston's Double-A farm club. Lowell will square off against the Hudson Valley Renegades (Tampa Bay organization) in a New York-Penn League contest beginning at 12:05 p.m. That game will be followed by Portland and the Harrisburg Senators (Washington organization) in a match-up of Eastern League teams.

Kids attending "Futures at Fenway" will be selected randomly throughout the day to participate in a number of exciting activities, such as working with the grounds crew, participating in mascot races and taking part in other on-field activities. Additionally, youngsters will be able to get autographs from the players during autograph sessions scheduled on the Big Concourse.

Ticket prices will remain the same as in 2006, ranging from $5 (for Upper Bleachers) to $30 (for Green Monster Seats, Dugout Seats, the EMC Club and the State Street Pavilion). Additionally, hot dogs and sodas will be discounted $1 for the minor league doubleheader.

Tickets will be available for fans to sit in ballpark locations many have never before had the chance to enjoy, such as the Green Monster Seats, on the Right Field Roof Deck, in the Dugout Seats, and EMC Club and State Street Pavilion.

Red Sox season ticket holders, members of Red Sox Nation and members of Red Sox Kid Nation presented by Hood will have a first opportunity to purchase tickets. Those fans will receive further details in a forthcoming mailing.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 24 via the internet at www.redsox.com or by touch-tone telephone at (617) 482-4SOX. Fans with disabilities may call (877) REDSOX-9 to purchase accessible seating (while supplies last). The Red Sox' TTY number for hearing-impaired fans is (617) 226-6644.

Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino originally approached the Red Sox with the idea to host minor league games at Fenway Park.

"Mayor Menino's vision for minor league baseball at Fenway Park proved to be very successful in our first year," commented Red Sox President/CEO Larry Lucchino. "It provided an opportunity for fans and families from across the city and throughout New England, who may not otherwise be able to attend a Red Sox game, to watch the Red Sox stars of the future play at Fenway Park. We are looking forward to another exciting, family-focused day at the ballpark in 2007."

Although records are incomplete, those games are believed to be the first minor league games played at Fenway Park since the 1977 Eastern League All-Star Game. The last known regular season minor league game played at Fenway had been a 1966 Eastern League contest between Pittsfield (Red Sox) and Pawtucket (Indians).
