Frostbite's Winning Streak Ends against Kalamazoo

GLENS FALLS, NY -- The Kalamazoo Wings ended the Adirondack Frostbite's four-game winning streak, and handed the Frostbite just their second loss on home ice this season, with a 4-2 win on Sunday at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Kalamazoo raced out to a 3-0 lead just over 23 minutes into the game. The K-Wings scored the only goal of the first period 9:10 into the frame as Jason Deitch scored a power-play past the glove side of Derek Gustafson.

The K-Wings scored a pair of goals just 1:02 apart early in the second period. Mike Manley made it 2-0 with a shorthanded goal at the 2:23 mark, and Greg Labenski's third goal of the season at 3:25 made it 3-0.

Adirondack finally got on the scoreboard at 15:29. After K-Wings goaltender Joel Martin stopped both Mark Hurtubise and Hugo Belanger on point-blank opportunities, Mike Berry gathered in the rebound on the far post, and flipped the shot over Martin for his ninth goal of the season, on a 5-on-3 power play.

Berry cut the deficit to one with another power-play tally just 36 seconds later, as he redirected a Sylvain Cloutier shot from the point past Martin.

Kalamazoo got an insurance goal with just 1:16 left in the second period, as Kory Karlender beat Gustafson with a quick wrist-shot from the right-wing circle.

Despite nine combined power-play opportunities in the third period, neither team was able to get on the scoreboard.
