Generals pick up a point in shootout loss

Flint, MI - The Flint Generals remained one point ahead of the Port Huron Flags in the Central Division after taking three of four points against their division rivals this weekend. Following a 6-3 win over the Flags on Friday night the Generals and Flags skated to a 2-2 tie at the end of regulation tonight at Perani Arena & Event Center. The Flags picked up the extra point in the shootout.

1st Period - No scoring.

2nd Period - Port Huron's Brad Mehalko scored to give the Flags a 1-0 lead.

3rd Period - Flint tied the game on a 5-3 power play when Brent Sullivan stuffed in a rebound at 9:39. Port Huron's Aaron Brand answered with a power play goal at 11:29 to give Port Huron the lead again at 2-1. With 6:57 Port Huron's Steve Dix was called for a double minor for high sticking. Flint then challenged Sean Kotary's stick and the referee found the stick to be illegal, another 2-minute minor, and another 5-3 power play for the Generals. Terry Marchant would score to tie the game at 2-2 and send the game into a shootout.

Shootout - Port Huron would score three times giving Port Huron the extra point with the win The Generals still receive a point and remain 1 point ahead of Port Huron in the Central Division.

The Flint Generals travel to play division rivals the Kalamazoo Wings on Wednesday and return home to face the Quad City Mallards Friday night at 7:35pm. A complete statistical recap is available on http://www.pointstreak.com
