Rockford IceHogs News Release
Fort Wayne, Ind.- Rockford IceHogs goaltender Ronnie Vogel made a team season high 41 saves and rookie winger Robins Big Snake netted a pair of goals to lead the IceHogs to a 4-1 win Saturday night over the Fort Wayne Komets at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Vogel also tied an IceHogs club-record extending his unbeaten streak to 11 games (10-0-1).
Big Snake began the scoring in the first when he knocked in a rebound past Komets goalie Kevin St. Pierre at 17:13 while Rockford was skating on a power play. Defenseman Corey Hessler fired a shot on St. Pierre and center Olivier Proulx's post shot slid to Big Snake to shot it in for his sixth goal of the season.
In the second period, just after another power play had expired, Rockford defenseman Evgueni Nourislamov extended the lead when he fired a shot past St. Pierre at 5:30 after taking the puck away from Komets center Colin Chaulk. Fort Wayne responded, however, with a goal from P.C. Drouin at 14:27 to cut the Hogs lead to 4-2.
In the third period, Rockford broke the game open with a pair of tallied. Hessler netted the first, set up by Yannick Tifu at 3:29. Later, Big Snake notched his second of the night at 11:06, deeking out St. Pierre for his second multi-goal night of the season.
Rockford finished the night 1-for-4 on the power play and held the Komets to 0-for-5.
