ROANOKE, VA - The Adirondack Frostbite defeated the Roanoke Valley Vipers 3-2 in a shootout Saturday night at the Roanoke Civic Center. With the win, the Frostbite improve to 8-2-0 on the season.

Adirondack got off to a quick start, taking a 1-0 lead just 1:10 into the first period. Jake Brenk, signed by the team earlier in the day, sent a quick shot to the front of the net, which was tipped home by Blue Bennefield for his third goal of the season.

But, Roanoke came right back to the game at 3:05, scoring a 5-on-3 power-play goal. L.P. Martin's shot from the point was stopped by Derek Gustafson, but Josh Tataryn gathered in the rebound on the far post, and was able to lift a shot over the Frostbite goaltender for his fourth goal of the season.

The game remained tied until the 16:51 mark of the second period when the Vipers took their first lead of the game, scoring another 5-on-3 power-play goal. Martin's long shot from the blue line hit off the crossbar and deflected back into the slot. Martin was able to crash the net and push the puck across the line for his third goal of the year.

Adirondack tied the game at 2 just 1:17 into the final period. Sylvain Cloutier centered a pass in front for Mark Hurtubise, who despite having his back facing the net, fired a shot on goal that eluded Hodson, giving the rookie two goals in his first two pro games.

In the shootout, the Frostbite scored on two of five shots, while Roanoke scored once on its five opportunities.

The Frostbite conclude their road trip on Sunday with a 4:05 p.m. matinee at the Richmond Coliseum against the RiverDogs. Catch all of the action on WCKM 98.5, starting with the pre-game show at 3:45 p.m.
