Adirondack Frostbite News Release

Glens Falls, NY – The Frostbite held a 3-0 lead into the third period, with goalie, David Burleigh, just missing a shutout as Adirondack went on to beat Elmira 3-1. Kevin Taylor started out the scoring for the Frostbite, with Sylvain Cloutier adding a power play goal and Bruce Gardiner capping off the scoring. The defense was tough, allowing only 23 shots and held the Jackals to one for eight on the power play.

Defense dominated the first period, before Adirondack came through with an even strength goal. Taylor picked up the loose puck right in front of the net and was able to put it past Jackals goalie Nathan Grobbins. Adirondack peppered the Jackals net with 13 shots while Burleigh had a pretty quiet period facing only one shot.

The Frostbite added to their lead in the second period scoring twice. The Frostbite picked up a power play goal when Gardiner fed Cloutier right in front of the net and beat Grobbins to the near side. Burleigh came up with some big saves on shots from point blank range and kept the Jackals off the board after two.

Elmira scored the only goal in the third period, on the power play, as Jason Sessa faked out Burleigh and slipped the puck under his pads. Adirondack clamped down defensively and continued to clear the puck when needed, while Burleigh made some key saves to help the Frostbite to victory.

The Frostbite return to action Sunday night for their second and final pre-season game against the Jackals. Game begins at 5:00. The Frostbite open up the regular season on the road Friday night in Danbury against the Trashers. The action can be heard beginning at 7:20 with the pre-game show on 98.5 WCKM.
