Adirondack Frostbite News Release

ROANOKE, VA - Ryan Bennett and Mark Hurtubise both tallied four points to lead the Adirondack Frostbite to a 9-3 win over the Roanoke Valley Vipers on Sunday afternoon. The nine goals match a team season high, with both games coming against the Vipers.

The Frostbite got off to a quick start, taking a 1-0 lead just 32 seconds into the first period. Hurtubise's shot was turned aside by Trevor Cunning, but the rebound came free to Bennett in the high slot, and he was able to wrist a shot past Cunning for his 10th goal of the season.

Adirondack's power-play then went to work for the remainder of the period. After going 3-for-6 on the man advantage on Saturday at Elmira, the Frostbite scored three times on five power-play opportunities in the opening period. Sylvain Cloutier started the onslaught at 10:17, as he took a backdoor pass from Hugo Belanger, and tipped it past Cunning on the near post for his 18th of the year.

Mike Berry made it 3-0 at 16:38. Belanger skated across the Vipers' blue line, and hit Berry streaking down the left-wing side. Berry gathered in the pass in the circle, and jammed a shot through Cunning's legs for his 21st goal.

Belanger finished the first-period barrage with just two seconds left in the period. Hurtubise chased down a rebound in the far corner and centered for Belanger in the high slot, and he one-timed a shot past Cunning for his 21st goal of the season. The assist was Hurtubise's third of the opening period.

Roanoke got on the scoreboard 2:36 into the second period. Jonathan Charette got free skating down the left-wing side, and was able to beat Kris Tebbs with a quick shot off of his backhand for his fourth tally of the season.

The Frostbite's offensive attack continued after that, as they added four more goals in the middle period. Greg Koehler, Kevin Watters, Bob Rapoza, and David Moccia all tallied in the second period to give Adirondack an 8-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Roanoke scored a pair of goals in the first eight minutes of the third period, as Charlie Elezi and David Beauregard tallied to make it 8-3.

Koehler added his second of the night, off of another assist from Bennett, to make it 9-3 at 10:51.

The Frostbite set a season-high with 53 shots on goal.

Adirondack returns to action on Wednesday, hosting Roanoke at 7:05 p.m. It's Family Four Pack Night, as well as Wacky Wednesday.
