DANBURY CT--Alex Goupil's goal with 4:35 left in regulation gave the Trashers their second lead of the period as they held off the Elmira Jackals 5-4 before 2,525 at the Danbury Ice Arena on Sunday night.

For the second straight game against the Jackals, Elmira built a 2-0 lead as Todd Grant's 4th of the season beat Sly Daigle at the 3:52 mark of the opening period, while the first of two Sam Paolini goals were scored at the 7:28 mark of the second to give the Jackals a 2-0 advantage.

Shawn Collymore answered Paolini's goal just 48 seconds later as Mike and Drew Omicioli assisted at the 8:16 mark to cut the Jackals lead to a goal. Paolini netted his second goal on a wraparound at the 17:06 mark to help the Jackals earn a 3-1 lead.

Drew Omicioli then countered for the Trashers as he scored the first of two goals within a span of 1:05 to tie the score at 3-3 by the end of the second period. Drew's first came off a hard shot in the slot to beat Ryan McIntosh, while the second was scored at the 19:49 mark as he took a Troy Smith pass off the endboards and slipped it past an out-of-position McIntosh to tie the score at 3-3.

Danny Stewart then scored at the 2:41 mark of the third period to give Danbury a 4-3 lead, but Jarrett Konkle's power play goal at the 7:22 mark tied the score.

Danbury regained their lead when Goupil ripped a shot past McIntosh at the 15:25 mark on assists from Stewart and Sergei Durdin.

Sly Daigle earned his 23rd win as Danbury improved to 32-13-10 for the season and a 10 point lead over the Adirondack Frostbite after a 24 save effort. McIntosh saved 31 of 36 in a losing cause.
