Adirondack Frostbite News Release
GLENS FALLS, NY -- The Adirondack Frostbite scored three goals in the opening 4:44 of the first period on their way to a 5-2 victory on Sunday afternoon over the Richmond RiverDogs. With the win, the Frostbite open the season with a 3-0-0 record.
Lyon Porter started the scoring just 31 seconds into the first period, beating goaltender Mike D'Allesandro for his first professional goal.
Hugo Belanger doubled the Frostbite lead just 54 seconds later. Belanger was allowed to skate untouched along the end boards and skated to the far post where he wristed a shot past D'Allesandro.
Blake Stewart made it 3-0 Frostbite at 4:44. The goal was Stewart's fifth of the season, with all five coming on the power play.
Richmond got on the scoreboard at 6:42. Dan Vandermeer found Mike Oliviera skating through the high slot, and Oliviera was able to beat Derek Gustafson through the five hole to make it 3-1.
In the second, the Frostbite regained their two goal lead thanks to a great individual effort from Kevin Watters. He stole the puck from Brian Goudie, and then made a great move to get free and blasted a shot past D'Allesandro for his fifth of the season.
Oliviera scored his second of the game at 14:21 of the third to pull the RiverDogs back within two, but Sylvain Cloutier iced the game for the Frostbite, scoring a power-play goal at 17:07, his first of the season, to set the final.
The Frostbite return to action on Friday with a 7:35 face-off at Port Huron. Catch all of the action on WCKM 98.5 starting with the pre-game show at 7:15.
