Frontier League All-Star Game Switches to Rookies vs. Experienced Players Format
June 8, 2018 - Frontier League (FL)
Normal CornBelters News Release
The 2018 Frontier League All-Star Game presented by BJC Healthcare and the River City Rascals has switched from the traditional East vs West format to a new Rookies vs Experienced players format.
"I am very excited about the new format for the All-Star Game," Commissioner Bill Lee said. "In the past, our games have been dominated by our older players. Now, the younger players will have an excellent chance to showcase their talents. I am looking forward to the game."
Feedback from professional scouts were the ultimate driving force behind switching the All-Star Game format to the new Rookies vs Experienced players. The Rookie team will be composed of players in their first or second full professional seasons (Rookie-1 and Rookie-2 classifications) while the Experienced team will be the top players with more than two full seasons of professional experience. The Experienced team will be the home squad for the game and led by the West Division coaching staff, while the East Division staff in first place at the game will oversee the Rookie squad.
The 2018 All-Star Game takes place on Wednesday July 11 at CarShield Field in O'Fallon, Missouri. This season is the third time that the Rascals and O'Fallon have hosted the Frontier League All-Star Game and first since 2004.
The game will give fans the opportunity to see the best that the Frontier League has to offer while enjoying a festival-like atmosphere for the ultimate summer family entertainment experience. Confirmed events that will be taking place during the All-Star Game at CarShield Field are food trucks, inflatables, a rock climbing wall and balloon artist. Gates for the All-Star Game will open at 6:00 PM, with the game beginning at 7:00 PM. All seating will be on a first come first serve basis with ticket prices being $15.00. Â Tickets can be purchased from the link below or at the River City Rascals Box Office, which is located at 900 T.R. Hughes Blvd, O'Fallon, MO.
