Kingston Frontenacs entertained the Sudbury Wolves at the Kingston Memorial Centre. Fronts winless streak continues.
Sudbury opens the scoring 4:15 into the first period from Wolves Captain Zack Stortini. 16:16 and 1:01 remaining in Lyons penalty, Luke Dubbin scores on Wolves powerplay. 3-minutes left in the period, Dayne Davis gets nailed into the boards by Benoit Pouliot; both teams push and shove with fighting majors to Lyons and Foligno plus a game misconduct. Suda and D'Aversa are handed 10-minute misconducts while Pouliot serves 2-minutes for goaltender interference. Kingston goes on the powerplay then in a heartbeat 2-man advantage for the Frontenacs for 35-seconds. 19:57, Hughes and Stortini get double-minors for roughing and unsportsmanlike conduct. Sudbury leads 2 - 0 outshooting the Frontenacs 16 - 10.
Second period 34-seconds in and two Wolves on the rush from centre ice, Sudbury's Stefan Blaho scores while Kotsopoulos and McQuaid drop the gloves and serve 10-minute misconducts and fighting majors. Shutron goes to the box for slashing and Luke Dubbin scores his 2nd of the game on a powerplay 1:30 in. Matthew Spezza replaces Davis in net. Chris Stewart (1) wide open scores his first OHL goal assisted by Cory Emmerton and Blake Pronk at 14:30. Frontenacs. In the closing moments of the period a fired up Ryan Stepehson (1) scores his first of the season on a jammed net during a powerplay assisted by Anthony Stewart and Justin Suda. Spezza stops all 4 Wolves shots. Sudbury leads the Frontenacs 4 - 2.
The third period, Sudbury goes on their 4th powerplay of the game - Fronts have had 10 pp opportunites scoring only on 1. Bobby Chaumont scores on an open net, Sudbury leads 5 - 2. Andy Brown, Frontenacs Head Trainer goes to the ice to see Anthony Stewart who was hit hard, no penalty on the play. 8:33 Suda picks up a questionable Interference call, heads to the trainer's room, and Sudbury goes on the powerplay. At 13:10, Eaton is penalized check from behind and game misconduct, Lyons gets double minor for roughing and 10-minute misconduct. Less than 5-minutes in the game Trevor Waddell (1) scores from the point for his first of the season assisted by Danny Revelle and Justin Suda; Anthony Stewart gets a game misconduct and roughing on the play. More penalites and Kingston goes on their 12th powerplay of the game. Cory Emmerton (1) tightens the lead with 3:23 left from the blue line assisted by Raftis and Hughes; Emmerton's first OHL goal. Coach Hulton calls a timeout and pulls Spezza and goes with 6 attackers. 18:38 Benoit Pouliot scores on an empty net and his second of the game.
Final score Sudbury 6, Kingston 4.
Dayne Davis faced 14 shots in the first 22 minutes of play. Matthew Spezza goes in after 4 straight goals. Kingston outshot Sudbury 42 - 27.
