Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wisc. - The visiting Kalamazoo Growlers (16-5) got off to a 3-0 start in the opening frame and never looked back as the host Green Bay Bullfrogs (7-15) fall by a final score of 5-2 from Joannes Stadium Wednesday evening. The Bullfrogs have dropped their fourth straight contest, while the Growlers extend their win streak out to eight games. Kalamazoo is now a perfect 4-0 against the Frogs this summer.
Green Bay hosts the Lakeshore Chinooks tomorrow evening for the first game of a home-and-home series. First pitch is slated for a 7:05 p.m. start from Titletown. A live video webcast of the contest can be streamed online through the official Northwoods League website. Fans can also listen to the live audio broadcast on WOCO Radio (107.1 FM) or online at WOCO.Caster.FM.
Tate Soderstrom (Freshman, Univ. of Arizona) drove home the lone RBI of the contest, finishing 1-for-5 at the plate. Jake Munoz (Sophomore, Univ. of San Francisco), Ethan Ibarra (Junior, St. Cloud State) and Jake Finkbeiner (Freshman, Wayne State) each went 1-for-4.
The Growlers opened up the scoring immediately in the first inning on a run-scoring single followed by a two-run hit to put the visitors ahead 3-0. Kalamazoo added another run in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly to make it a 4-0 game, while a RBI single in the sixth inning stretched the advantage out to 5-0.
Green Bay got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning as Soderstrom scored from third base as Eddy Gonzalez (Junior, Incarnate Word) reached on a fielder's choice to trim the margin down to 5-1. In the seventh, Soderstrom blooped a single into left field scoring Finkbeiner to cut the deficit down to 5-2. The Bullfrogs were held scoreless in the final two innings, securing the victory for Kalamazoo.
Kalamazoo starting pitcher Connor Adams got the win, improving to 1-1. Green Bay starter Justin Bureau (Senior, Ave Maria Univ.) took the loss, falling to 0-1. Bullfrogs relief pitcher Eli Baez (Sophomore, St. Bonaventure) was solid in relief, posting two strikeouts with no hits and no runs allowed in two innings of work.
