
Frisco Fights off Arkansas Winning Game One

FRISCO, TEXAS- A walk-off home run by Chris McGuiness in the tenth inning sealed a 5-4 victory against the Arkansas Travelers Sunday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
The Travelers took off with the lead in the first. Former RoughRiders' infielder Renny Osuna stepped in to face Frisco starter Barret Loux. Osuna singled up the middle and stole second base before scoring on a Ryan Mount single. Mount was moved to third on a single by Casey Haerther before scoring on a single by Bryan Hernandez. Arkansas tacked on another run in the second after Tyson Auer hit a triple down the left field line and was brought in with an RBI single by Osuna.
Frisco chipped away at the lead adding one in the fourth. Travelers' starter Mike Piazza led off the innings by issuing a walk to Jared Hoying. A double by Zach Zaneski put the two in scoring position before a sacrifice fly by Val Majewski brought in Hoying making the score 3-1.
The RoughRiders tied the game in the fifth. Back-to-back singles by Engel Beltre and Ryan Strausborger put ducks on the pond. One batter later, a double by Alex Buchholz plated the pair evening the score at four.
Both teams added another run in the seventh. For Arkansas, Tyson Auer doubled and was brought in on a single by Osuna. For Frisco, Hoying singled and stole second base before being brought in on a double by Leury Garcia.
The tie was unbroken through nine innings and Frisco fans got to watch free baseball. 'Riders reliever Carlos Pimentel (7-2) struck out the first two batters in the tenth before allowing a single to Carlos Ramirez. Jimmy Swift then hit a double to right field. Ramirez was waved around but Jared Prince threw the ball to Ryan Strausborger at second who gunned down Ramirez at the plate for the final out. Travelers' reliever Dakota Robinson (2-2) quickly retired the first RoughRiders to approach the plate before allowing a walk-off home run to Chris McGuiness to end the game.
Carlos Pimentel picks up his seventh win of the season pitching for one inning allowing two hits while walking none and striking out two. Dakota Robinson is tagged with his second loss of the season pitching for 0.2 innings allowing one hit and one run while walking none and striking out one.
Frisco faces Arkansas for game two Monday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Justin Grimm (8-3, 1.87) gets the start for the RoughRiders. He will be opposed by right-handed hurler Johnny Hellweg (3-8, 3.78). First pitch is slated for 7:05 and can be heard on 1630 KKGM or on ridersbaseball.com. Pre-game coverage starts at 6:30.
