Frisco RoughRiders News Release

Despite outhitting the Rockhounds, Frisco couldn't get the clutch hit as the 'Riders left 25 batters on-base and lost to Midland 3-2, keeping the 'Hounds playoff chances alive

Although Frisco had more than double the number of hits as Midland, the RoughRiders fell to the Rockhounds 3-2 in the second to last game of the season. For Midland, they are one game closer to a second half title with one game to play. If Midland wins in the regular season finale against Frisco, then they are in the playoffs, but if they lose then the second playoff spot is awarded to San Antonio.

Midland scored in the first inning on a force out to gain the early 1-0 lead. They scored one more in the fourth and another in the sixth to jump out to an early 3-0 advantage. Frisco answered in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run homer by Chad Tracy to bring the 'Riders within one. However, Frisco couldn't capitalize with runners in scoring position as Midland went on for the 3-2 win.

Michael Schlact (7-11) took the loss allowing two earned runs over 5.2 innings, losing his fifth game in his past seven decisions. Jason Fernandez (1-3) won his first game of the season for Midland allowing just two runs over five innings.

Julio Borbon extended his franchise-best hit streak to 20 games with a 2-for-4 night. Elvis Andrus and Chad Tracy also had multi-hit games as Tracy's long ball was the only extra-base hit for the 'Riders (10 singles).

The regular season finale will determine a lot for Midland and San Antonio Monday night as RHP Jared Hyatt (4-3, 4.00) will toe the rubber for Frisco. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. from Dr Pepper Ballpark.
