
Frisco Falls 13-7 in Series Opener

FRISCO, TEXAS- Corpus Christi brought out the boomsticks coming out on top 13-7 against Frisco Friday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
The Hooks jumped out early putting four runs on the board in the second. The RoughRiders answered back cutting the lead in half. Chris McGuiness led off the inning with a solo home run. Hooks' starter Bobby Doran (1-0) then induced two ground outs before giving up a triple to Ryan Strausborger. A single by Zach Zaneski brought Strausborger in making the score 4-2.
Facing 'Riders starter Barret Loux (11-1), the Hooks put another three runs on the board in the third including a solo home run by Drew Locke. Loux was replaced by reliever Wilfredo Boscan in the fourth who allowed two more runs to put Corpus Christi on top by five.
After putting two more runs on the board in the sixth, the Hooks then allowed four runs to the RoughRiders in the bottom of the inning making the score 11-6. The final two runs for Corpus Christi were tacked on in the ninth. Frisco tried to mount a small comeback in the bottom of the inning after Chris McGuiness hit his third home run of the night. However, it wasn't enough to overcome the six-run hole.
Barret Loux was tagged with his first loss of the season pitching for three innings, allowing eight hits, nine runs with eight of them earned while walking one and striking out four. Bobby Doran picks up his first win of the season pitching for five innings, allowing eight hits and five earned runs while walking two and striking out two. Henry Villar also picked up his first save of the season.
Frisco faces off against Corpus Christi in game two tomorrow. Jake Brigham (3-3, 4.31) will toss for the 'Riders. He will be opposed by Jake Buchanan (3-5, 6.25). First pitch is slated for 7:05 and can be heard on 1630 KKGM or on ridersbaseball.comThe game will also be televised on TXA-21. Pre-game coverage will begin at 6:30.
