September 28, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Fresno FC News Release

SAN ANTONIO - Fresno heads to the Lone Star State this week for its last out-of-state road trip of the 2019 regular season. The Foxes (16-5-8) open the two-game road swing this Saturday at San Antonio FC, where they'll look to cement a home playoff spot against a home side that is fighting to keep its postseason hopes alive. SAFC are coming off a 4-3 loss at Tulsa on Wednesday, and will need to bounce back against Fresno to keep their playoff chances from dipping under their current odds of 53 percent, according to FiveThirtyEight. com. SAFC are fine on its home field, with an 8-2- 5 record in 2019, that includes impressive wins over New Mexico (5-0) and Reno (3-2). Leading the way for San Antonio is forward Frank Lopez with 13 goals. Cristian Parano (7 goals, 5 assists) and Jack Barmby (7 goals, 4 assists) have provided the bulk of the chances with 110 chances created between the two of them. Fresno will aim for its third consecutive win behind the firepower of Jaime Chavez and Qudus Lawal and look to sweep the regular-season series after taking a 3-2 win on June 21st at Chukchansi Park.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

1-1-1 all-time

Los Zorros took their first win over SAFC earlier this season with a 3-2 win on June 21, 2019 at Chukchansi Park.

CLINCHED!

The Foxes clinched their first-ever spot to the USL Championship Playoffs with Saturday's 2-1 win over Phoenix Rising FC. Fresno's magic number for the No. 2-seed in the playoffs is 10 points, with a possibility to clinch at least one home match in the postseason as early as Saturday with three points against San Antonio.

THE FRESNO FORTRESS

Fresno is 10-1-4 at Chukchansi Park in 2019 and unbeaten in its last 11 matches at home. Fresno won five in a row at home for the first time in club history from May 22 to August 3, 2019.

STAYING HOT

Summer may have ended but forward Jaime Chavez is not cooling down, scoring three goals and assisting one more in Week 29 to be voted the USL's Player of the Week. He became the first Fresno FC player to earn the award. Nine of his 12 total goals have come in the last nine games.

A BIG WEEK FOR CJ COCHRAN

CJ Cochran made three penalty kick saves last week, including two in the final minutes of Fresno's win over PHX to clinch the playoffs. Cochran has 7 clean sheets and 71 saves in 29 starts this season and the club's defensive record is third-best in the West.
