Frenzy pulls out victory in summer pro league

Cape Cod Frenzy News Release
Boston, MA. The ABA's Cape Cod Frenzy, missing six players from its team including four starters, pulled out a victory in the Mass Art Premier Pro Exposure League 119-110 over PJ Hoops. the win locks up a first place finish for the Cape Cod Frenzy going into Saturday's playoffs.
The Frenzy, who dressed only five players, jumped out of the game early. The combination of red hot shooting by mercurial guard James Hall, who was 9-12 from three point range through three quarters, and interior domination by 6'10 center Modibo Diarra proved too much for PJ Hoops early on. The Frenzy pushed out a 53-52 lead in the second quarter. James Hall's half court shot off the glass closed out a strong first half for Cape Cod.
In the third quarter, the Frenzy used a balanced strategy of interior post play by rotating Diarra, 6'6 Rich Pittman and 6'6 Q Randall on the block against their smaller opponents. On the defensive end, the Frenzy frontcourt blocked shot after shot and controlled the boards.
Towards the fourth quarter, the Frenzy players started showing signs of fatigue and PJ Hoops proved they weren't going away easily. After forcing some careless turnovers by the Frenzy players, PJ Hoops began to ride the smooth stroke of former Boston College point guard Stevie Hailey. Hailey hit several three pointers in a row including a four point play to cut the lead as close as seven points. But the fatigued Frenzy players somehow weathered the PJ Hoops big run and came up with big defensive plays down the stretch. Diarra hit some key free throws at the end to keep the lead comfortable and seal the victory.
The Frenzy were led by James Hall with 41 points, 14 assists, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. Modibo Diarra talled 23 points and 22 rebounds. While Rich Pittman contributed 22 points and 13 boards, Q Randall had 18 points and 13 rebounds, and Robert Mitchell scored 15 and grabbed 12 boards. Stevie Hailey led PJ Hoops with 38 points.
The Frenzy's final regular season game is Wednesday night vs RG2 All Stars at 730pm at the Massachusetts College or Art and Design. The playoffs begin Saturday at 530pm with the championship game being held on Sunday at 2pm.
