Rockstars scouting another AND1 mix tour star

July 18, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Chicago Rockstars News Release

Chicago, IL. The ABA Chicago Rockstars have been talking with AND1 streetball star Tony "Go Get It" Jones about the possibility of playing with the team this season. The AND1 mix tape tour landed in Chicago this past weekend and "Go Get It" was one of its featured stars. Jones, a native of Chicago, attended Chicago State University, the home of the Chicago Rockstars. Jones also played this past Sunday in the Chicago Pro AM summer league that the Rockstars are participating in. "Tony looked very polished and his basketball IQ was very good," said owner Marques Sullivan. "I was impressed with the intensity Tony played with on the court," said head coach Kenny Williams.

Tony played ball first in his hometown of Chicago at Chicago Vocational School from 1992-95, then went out at Marcos de Niza High School in Tempe, AZ from 1995-97. Tony attended Mesa Community College, Mesa AZ from 1997-99 and Chicago State University from 1999-2001. In the summer of 2001, Tony played in various summer pro leagues and also had individual workouts with the Washington Wizards and the Memphis Grizzlies. Tony earned his street name because if you throw a lob anywhere in the area of the rim he will "Go Get It." The name stuck ever since. Tony joined the mix tape tour starting out as an opposing team member out west in 2003 where he played in a few games, throwing it down on anyone who tried to defend him. AND1 started to get an interest and had a lot of their players on the injured list. They brought him on to the AND1 squad in the sixth game of the summer tour in Phoenix. He has been dominating ever since. Could "Go Get It" be a future Rockstar? Keep checking www.rockstarbasketball.com or www.abalive.com for more information.
