July 18, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Chicago Rockstars News Release

Chicago, IL. The ABA Chicago Rockstars' main goal is to support the children of the Chicagoland community. The team has announced a partnership with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Chicago. "We are honored to be a part of this wonderful organization," said owner Marques Sullivan. "Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago has been serving Cook County since 1969 and is one of 500 agencies nationwide striving to aid in the positive development of our youth. Nearly 700 volunteers remain the backbone of the program by serving as friends, mentors, and role models, all to help children build self-confidence."

Through partnership with a team of volunteers, it is BBBS goal to provide support as menors and youth to create and maintain valuable relationships. BBBS volunteers' spirit and energy motivates this organization to meet a growing need for positive role models as BBBS continues to expand their reach to children who need the program the most.

The Big Brothers and Big Sisters not only enjoy the rewarding experience of being a positive role model to a child, but also have the unique opportunity to learn a lot themselves! The need for mentors has never been greater.

Although thousands of children in the program have been helped, BBBS has a large waiting list of boys and girls who would benefit from a relationship with a caring adult. Today, the waiting list is over 200 children - many of whom have been waiting to be matched for over a year.

The entire Rockstars staff, players, and dance team are committed to be community leaders and joined the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program. The Chicago Rockstars encourage everyone to take part in this terrific and worthwhile program. To find a Big Brothers and Big Sister organization near you, please log onto www.bbbs.org.
