Florence Y'alls
Florence, Kentucky: The good news came out shortly after game number two ended at Florence's Champion Window Field. Freedom centerfielder Reggie Watson had just been signed to a minor league contract by the San Diego Padres.
After last night's games, Reggie was hitting .357 in Frontier League play, that leads the league. Reggie also leads the league in hits, with 79. He is second in stolen bases with 20, and is third in on-base percentage with an OBP of .437.
The saying good things happen to good people couldn't be more true last night. Reggie Watson is one of the hardest workers you will find in baseball. After the game, Reggie, like most of his teammates, stand by the first base wall and sign autographs for the Freedom fans. It isn't clear where Reggie will first report at this time, but I wish Reggie the best of luck in affiliated ball, and I hope to see him patrolling center field in San Diego's Petco Park real soon.
