FLORENCE, Ky - Upon returning home from a four-game series in Sauget, IL, the Florence Freedom, presented by Titan Mechanical Solutions, have announced a Tuesday trade that will send outfielder, Brandon Pugh to the River City Rascals in exchange for a second round pick in the 2019 Frontier League Draft.
Pugh started 19 games for the Freedom, primarily in left field where he logged eighteen starts opposed to one in center. The left-handed hitter is batting .254 with a pair of doubles and four RBI, spending the bulk of his time in the lead-off spot (17 games). One area in which Pugh proved extremely valuable this season was on the base paths, as the speedy runner led the Freedom with 9 stolen bases, three more than the next best guy on the roster, Xavier Turner.
This will be the second stint with the Rascals in 2018 for the University of North Alabama product, as Pugh received a spring training invite from River City before winding up a camp casualty a few days before Opening Day, paving his way to Florence.
"Brandon is a good player and tough to send him to another team," Freedom manager, Dennis Pelfrey said. "But we need to move in a little different direction at this point. We wish Brandon nothing but the best in his career."
