Florence Y'alls
Florence, Kentucky: A crowd of 2,665 was on hand at Champion Window Field to cheer on a Freedom sweep of the Windy City Thunderbolts, but the T-Bolts had something else in mind.
Windy City first baseman Scott Lefler got the scoring started in the second with his first homerun of the season, a solo shot. The Freedom answered in their half of the second inning, on a Clint Chauncey RBI single to tie the game. After Windy City scored three in the third, Florence came back and scored two runs, an RBI double by Trevor Hall, and an RBI single by Joe Holland. The Freedom took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the fourth, with RBIs from Greg Stone and Wally Quigg. Wally Quigg came up big on the bottom of the sixth, when he doubled and drove in two. The score was 7-5 in favor of the Freedom after six. The game collapsed in the eighth, when Windy City scored two to tie, and then two in the ninth to win, 9-7.
Drew Jackson (0-1) picked up the hard loss in relief. Joey Watts pitched in long relief, going four and giving up three runs, striking out four. Greg Stone reached base any way he could from the leadoff spot, going 1-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Wally Quigg made his one hit count, and had a total of three RBI. Trevor Hall continued his hot hitting, going 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Kyle Geswein reached base every time he came up to the plate, without even recording an official at-bat. He was walked all four plate appearences. Freedom shortstop Josh Sanchez went 1-3 with two runs scored.
The Freedom head back out on the road, when they take on Washington tonight at Falconi Field in Pennsylvania. Justin Roelle (0-2) is the scheduled starter for Florence. First pitch is at 7:05, you can listen to the action on www.florencefreedom.com. The Freedom return to Champion Window Field on Friday, to welcome in the Gateway Grizzlies for the weekend series.
