Bradenton Marauders News Release

Bradenton, Fla.--- The Marauders (22-11, 57-41) and the Tampa Tarpons (17-16, 48-51) met for the four-game of a six-game series at LECOM Park on windy and cool Thursday night in the Friendly City. Bradenton saw an early lead slip away late in the ballgame as they fell to a 7-4 defeat.

Marauders starter Owen Kellington put in four solid innings of work, allowing just two runs while striking out six.

Bradenton snatched an early lead in the second inning when Juan Jerez doubled with two outs, bringing Charles McAdoo around to score and putting the good guys up 1-0.

Tampa counterpunched with a two spot to take the lead in the third thanks to a two-out two-RBI single from Omar Martinez to shoot the visitors ahead 2-1.

Lonnie White Jr. quickly restored Bradenton's lead with a two-run blast in the home half of the third to make it 3-2 in favor of the Young Bucs.

The Marauders went up 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth when Jesus Castillo brought a man into score from a sac fly.

Tampa feasted on Marauder bullpen pitching in the 5th and 6th innings, grabbing two runs in each frame to claim a 6-4 lead going into the later innings of play.

Bradenton's offense went dormant in the final four innings as they did not have a man reach base in frames 6-9. Tampa added an insurance run with a solo homer in the eighth as they cruised to a 7-4 win.

Game four of the series is set for Friday at 6:30 on Safari night at LECOM Park.
