SAN JOSE, Calif. (June 8, 2005) – San Jose SaberCats second-year kicker DAN FRANTZ underwent successful surgery on May 27 to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) on his kicking leg. The surgery was performed by team doctor Arthur Ting.

Frantz, who sustained the injury while attempting to make a tackle on an onside kick at Arizona on May 14, missed the regular season finale against the Georgia Force and the SaberCats' lone playoff game against Colorado.

"It's getting better everyday," Frantz said. "I'll be in Portland, Ore. doing rehab, getting my range of motion back and building strength."

Frantz finished the 2005 campaign ranked first in the league in PAT attempts (122) and third in the league in PATs made (103). He also ranks second in SaberCats career kick scoring with 236 points.

The former all-conference kicker at Portland State is expected to make a complete recovery and be ready for the 2006 season.

The SaberCats are now taking deposits for 2006 season and group tickets. Contact a sales representative at (408) 573-5577 for more information. Check out the SaberCats official website www.sanjosesabercats.com for the latest team-related information.
