June 8, 2005 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Georgia Force News Release
FLOWERY BRANCH, GA, June 8, 2005 â The Arena Football League announced their 2005 business awards today, which included Georgia Force President Dick Sullivan being named AFL Executive of the Year.
Other award winners included Philadelphia Soul co-owner Jon Bon Jovi and Colorado Crush co-owner John Elway, who were named co-recipients of the Founders Award, the Los Angeles Avengers, who received the Commissioner's Award; and the Nashville Kats, who earned Support Staff of the Year.
One of the most respected marketing minds in professional football, Sullivan was appointed President of the Force when Atlanta Falcon's owner Arthur Blank purchased the team last year. In his first AFL season, he oversaw the team's move back downtown to Philips Arena, which resulted in franchise record crowds helping the Force post a perfect 10-0 record at home throughout the regular season and playoffs.
Sullivan's award continues a string of postseason accolades for Georgia. Over the last several weeks, Doug Plank was named Coach of the Year, Troy Bergeron earned Rookie of the Year honors, Bergeron and Derek Lee garnered All-Rookie Team selections and four players were selected to either the All-Arena First or Second Teams, the most by any team.
The 2005 National Conference and Southern Division champion Georgia Force face the Colorado Crush on Sunday, June 12th in ArenaBowl XIX in Las Vegas. The game will be nationally televised on NBC at 3 PM ET.
