Saskatoon, SK - It came down to the final seconds, but the Saskatchewan Rush fell to the San Diego Seals 12-11 at the SaskTel Centre Saturday night (Mar.11).
The road team dominated the first quarter scoring four straight, but Robert Church was able to stop the bleeding making it 4-1 after 15 minutes of play.
In the second quarter, both teams exchanged goals sending San Diego to the half up 5-2 on Country Night.
A five-goal burst for the Seals was led by the likes of Wes Berg (2-4-6) and Dane Dobbie (2-3-5) who put the visitors ahead 10-4 with 15 minutes to go.
Clark Walter's five goal effort along with Church's seven-point performance gave Saskatchewan a chance after a flurry of goals in the fourth quarter, but in the end the Rush were unable to capitalize on a late opportunity as the Seals snuck away with a 12-11 victory.
San Diego's Frank Scigliano made 49 saves in the win, while Alex Buque stopped 38 in the loss.
Next up, Saskatchewan will head to Calgary for St Patrick's Day and a matchup with the Roughnecks on Friday, March 17th.
