Proceeds from this year's tourney to benefit The Mom's Place at Catholic Medical Center

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the top affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, and the Monarchs Care Foundation, the organization's charitable arm, on Monday hosted the Fourth Annual Ace Bailey Golf Classic at the Manchester Country Club in Bedford, New Hampshire. Proceeds from this year's sold out event, expected to be in the range of $30,000, will benefit the development of a Level II Special Care Nursery at The Mom's Place, located at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester. The nursery will provide an environment for parents to learn to care for at risk babies who are in need of additional medical attention before leaving the hospital. The Monarchs Care Foundation annually partners with the Ace Bailey Children's Foundation and CMC to celebrate the life of Garnet "Ace" Bailey and to raise funds for a worthy cause in his name. Bailey, known for his love of kids and his fun-loving attitude, served as the Kings Director of Pro Scouting until his death on September 11, 2001. Bailey was a passenger aboard United Flight 175 and was lost in the tragic events of that day.

Two groups carded 59's in the best-ball tournament to finish in a tie after 18 holes. Following a tiebreaker, the foursome from IKON Office Solutions (John Fraitzl, Fred Denuzzio, Tom Finn and Steve Brown) and University of New Hampshire Associate Head Coach Scott Borek were declared winners of the event. The foursome from Citizens Bank (Michael Gleason, Glenn Rowley, Skip Ashooh and Don Welch) and former Monarchs captain Richard Seeley finished in second place.

The Ace Bailey Classic annually brings together an outstanding collection of men and women who have distinguished themselves in the sport of hockey. In addition to Borek and Seeley, this year's list of hockey celebrities included Kings Vice President of Hockey Operations/Assistant General Manager and Monarchs GM Kevin Gilmore, Monarchs President Jeff Eisenberg, Kings Director of Player Personnel Bill O'Flaherty and Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough.

Current and former Monarchs players like Derek Bekar (2001-03), Sam Ftorek (2003-04), Jeff Giuliano (2002-present), Eric Healey (2001-03) and Doug Nolan (2002-present) also participated in this year's tournament, along with former Olympians Colleen Coyne, Katie King and Tara Mounsey. All three were members of the USA women's hockey team that earned the gold medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan.

Rounding out the field of celebrities were former hockey greats like John Carter, Gordie Clark, Steve Kasper, Don Marcotte and Bob Sweeney, Dartmouth College Head Coach Bob Gaudet and University of New Hampshire Head Coach Dick Umile.
