Rivermen Announce AHL Home-Opening Weekend Dates

Peoria, Ill. (June 20, 2005) - President/CEO Bart Rogers of the Peoria Rivermen, member of the American Hockey League (AHL) and proud primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, announced today that the team will open its home AHL schedule on Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15.

"This is another step toward making the AHL happen in Central Illinois," Rogers said. "Now we know when we're going to open at Carver Arena in our first AHL campaign, and that helps boost the excitement up another notch. We look forward to selling out our home opener and making the weekend one of the best in Peoria hockey history.

"This also gives our great fans an additional reason to step up and purchase season tickets," Rogers continued. "And this gives our business partners a couple of firm dates for which they can put together group outings to join us on this historic weekend."

The opponents and game times are yet to be determined.

The Rivermen, proud primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, are a member of the American Hockey League, which serves as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. The AHL had more than 7 million fans attend games across North America during the 2004-2005 season.
