Four Sweets Named to All-Star Game

Walla Walla, Wa- The Sweets will be represented up in Bellingham at the All-Star game by four players who are deserving of the call. They will send Parker Coss, Kyle Nixon, Micah Gorman and Easton Lucas to the game.

Parker Coss has been a utility player around the infield for the Sweets and has led the team with his bat. He has hit all over the top part of the lineup and leads the team in batting average at .333. He also leads the team in doubles with six and has 11 RBI.

Kyle Nixon has been a solid right fielder for the Sweets, but it was his bat that got him the call to Bellingham. He is second on the team in average at .330, has a home run and has knocked in 12. He got hot at the right time. He has hit .429 over his last five games with a home run, double and four RBI.

Micah Gorman has been a staple in the rotation for the Sweets. He leads the team in wins going into the break with four and he carries a 2.91 ERA to his name as well. In 34 innings pitched, he has struck out 22 and just walked four. He also has one of six complete games in the West Coast League this season.

Easton Lucas started off the season hot and never wavered. He did not yield an earned run until his fifth appearance of the year, nine innings into his season. He heads into today with a 2.48 ERA in 29 innings with 24 strikeouts to eight walks. The lefty will be sure to make an impact at Pepperdine next season.

The game will be played June 20th at 7:05pm and it can be heard on ESPN Walla Walla as the Sweets and the Pippins will join up for the broadcast.
