Come Back Falls Short in Game Three Loss
July 13, 2015 - West Coast League (WCL)
Walla Walla Sweets News Release
Kelowna, BC- Kelowna showed that they are playing a different brand of baseball this year to the Sweets by taking game three 5-4 on Sunday evening. The win gave them the series win and their 21st victory (21-9) after they only won a combined 33 games over the last two seasons.
The Falcons took a 3-0 into the top of the sixth, when the Sweets finally found the scoreboard. They got two runs with a little help from Kelowna as both Juan Gamez and Alex McKenna scored on wild pitches to make it a 3-2 game.
The Falcons would tack on two in the bottom of the seventh and the Sweets would come right back and make it a ballgame again with a two-run double by Myles Hager. Hager was thrown out at third trying to stretch his double to a triple, and that would prove to be costly for the Sweets as they failed to score the tying run and lost by that score of 5-4.
The Sweets will have a break from league action for three games with the Senators on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. All games will be at 7:05pm at Borleske Stadium.
