
Two Rogues Named to WCL All-Star Team

MEDFORD, OR - The Rogues are proud to announce that two Medford Rogues have been named to the West Coast League All-Star Game. Outfielders Dan Mayer and Derron Davis have been selected to play for the South Division Team, Monday July 20, in Bellingham. Mayer will also be competing in the Home Run Derby, set to take place before the game.
Dan Mayer is the current WCL leader in homeruns with 8, also has a team-leading batting average of .336. Mayer has 10 doubles, one triple and 23 RBIs this season so far. Mayer has been a strong bat in the Rogues' lineup both with his homeruns over the left field fence and with RBIs. He has also had big plays in the outfield, with diving catches and strong throws into the infield to cut off base runners. Mayer is a sophomore at the University of the Pacific.
Derron Davis is batting .314 for the Rogues with two doubles and one triple. Davis has been strong in the leadoff spot in Medford's lineup. Along with his high batting average, Davis also has a .397 on base percentage. He has also been walked 15 times this season, and is a threat when he gets on the base path, with 8 stolen bases. Davis is a sophomore from McCook Community College but will be playing at Winthrop University in the fall.
Bellingham is pleased to announce that former major league pitcher Jamie Moyer and Seattle Mariners director of amateur scouting Tom McNamara will be on hand at the All-Star Game, hosted by the Bellingham Bells. Moyer, who had a successful 25-year career in the big leagues, won a world series with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008. Moyer will be joined by Tom McNamara, the director of amateur scouting for the Seattle Mariners.
Festivities on Monday, July 20th will kick off with the homerun derby starting at 5:30 p.m. First pitch of the All-Star Game will take place at 7:05 p.m. Gates will open to the general public at 4:30 p.m. and the first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive an All-Star Game logo baseball, presented by John Howie Restaurants. The game will be followed by post-game awards and a fireworks show.
The Medford Rogues is a wood-bat collegiate summer baseball team, in the West Coast League. The WCL is a 12-team league that includes teams from both the US and Canada, ranging from Medford, Oregon to Kelowna, British Columbia.
