Lynchburg Hillcats News Release

WInston-Salem, NC - Lynchburg fell behind early as the Dash put up four runs in the bottom of the first inning. With two outs and runners at second and third, Winston-Salem first baseman Andy Wilkins ripped a home run over the right field wall putting the Dash on the board. Shortstop Kyle Shelton added an RBI double making it 4-0 Dash after one inning.

L.V. Ware cut in to the Dash lead in the fifth inning, hitting the first pitch he saw over the left field wall to lead of the frame. The Hillcats would go on to load the bases with two outs later in the inning. Keenan Wiley hit an infield single to shortstop scoring Braeden Schlehuber from third. Unfortunately, Andrelton Simmons rounded third base after the run scored, and got caught in a run down. He would be tagged out at the plate ending the inning, essentially stranding Joey Terdoslavich in the batters box, who was due up next. It was 4-2 Dash in the fifth.

Winston-Salem added one more in the eighth inning, giving reliever Ryan Kussmaul a three-run cushion entering the ninth.

Schlehuber led off the ninth with a home run, his second in as many nights, making it a two-run game. The next three batters went down in order however, and the Hillcats lost 5-3.

LHP Hector Santiago (1-2) earned the win allowing two runs on seven hits, through six innings. RHP Cory Rasmus (0-3) took the loss giving up four runs, three earned in just two innings of work. Kussmaul pitched the ninth for Winston-Salem giving up the home run to Schlehuber but earning his first save of the season.

The Dash now lead the series 2-1 with game four yet to be played Sunday afternoon. RHP Arodys Vizcaino (1-2, 3.72) will start for Lynchburg against RHP Cameron Bayne (2-3, 2.90) for the Dash.

First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM. Coverage will begin at 1:40 PM with the Hillcats On-Deck Show powered by Honda/Suzuki of Lynchburg on 105.5 KD Country and online at lynchburg-hillcats.com
