Modesto, C.A. - The Modesto Nuts mounted a late rally but fell shy in a 9-8 loss to the Stockton Ports on Friday night at John Thurman Field.
Down five entering the ninth, Drew Weeks walked to start the inning for the Nuts (8-13). After a strike out, Shane Hoelscher came up with a single. Omar Carrizales hit a weak groundball to second.
