Columbus, GA - The Columbus Catfish (32-31) defeated the Rome Braves (25-37) by a score of 6-3 Monday at Golden Park. With five hits and a walk the Catfish scored four runs in the fifth inning. RHP Dave Horlacher (2-3) held the Braves to just two runs on five hits and two walks in the first six innings and earned the win.
Rome got on the scoreboard quickly when LF Quentin Davis led off the game with a solo home run to right field. It was his second blast of the season. They added a run in the fourth inning when C Cody Clark singled home SS Elvis Andrus.
3B Juan Rivera led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a double. CF Bridger Hunt then reached on a single. A double play recorded two outs, but did not end the Catfish rally. 2B Travis Denker walked before Columbus tied the game at 2-2 on a triple by RF Lucas May. C Tony Harper then plated May with a single to right field. Harper raced around the bases on a double to right field by 3B Eduardo Perez.
The last Braves run scored in the seventh inning on a 2B Jamie Trejo ground out to third base. Columbus added insurance in the bottom of the seventh. 1B David Sutherland drove in two runs with a two-out bases loaded double for the eventual final score of 6-3.
