
Four point performance from Wieckowski paces Grrrowl in win

AUGUSTA, GA - For the 7th time in the last 9 games, the Greenville Grrrowl allowed the game's first goal on Sunday afternoon in Augusta. Jason Shmyr opened the scoring with a powerplay goal at 6:16 of the first period, but TYLER DEIS scored a powerplay goal of his own at 13:01 of the first and KRZYSZTOF WIECKOWSKI gave Greenville a 2-1 lead with just :32 seconds remaining in the first period. Jim Shepherd and MARTIN MASA swapped second period goals, and the Grrrowl opened a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes of play.
Greenville also registered 37 shots on goal in the first two periods. The Grrrowl added 3 goals in the third, and cruised to a 6-2 win in front of of 3,106 at the Augusta Civic Center. WIECKOWSKI ended the game with 2 goals and 2 assists, while the Grrrowl registered a season-high 47 shots on goaltender Curtis Cruikshank.
The Grrrowl remain on the road to face the Columbus Cottonmouths Tuesday at 7:00 PM (Newsradio 1330 & 950, WORD). The next home game is scheduled for next Saturday, December 14th against the Florida Everblades (7:05 PM, Teddy Bear toss to benefit Toys for Tots).
